This programme is accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational
Qualification (HKCAAVQ).
Students are eligible to apply for Grant/Loan through the Financial Assistance Scheme
provided by the Hong Kong Government (please refer to www.sfaa.gov.hk).
This programme is designed:
As a professional level programme for the preparation of information technology professionals, software engineers and computer scientists.
To provide students with a thorough grounding of the theoretical and applied aspects of computing.
To teach students the concepts, theories, techniques and skills required to keep abreast of the new advances through the careful analysis of problem situations, a synthesis of new solutions and an evaluation of the impact of these solutions.
This programme is one of the three belonging to the first batch of non-local programmes which have
gone through the accreditation processes of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic &
Vocational Qualification (HKCAAVQ) in 2002.
Lectures are delivered by both overseas and local lecturers.
Successful completion of the Bachelor of Information Technology satisfies the requirements for
membership of the Australian Computer Society at Professional Level (highest) membership. Graduates will
need to apply to the Society directly.
Students of the programme can undertake one of the following majors:
Information Systems
Interactive Multimedia
Full-time: 3 years, 2 semesters/year
Part-time: 4 years, 3 trimesters/year
Advanced standing is the recognition which may be granted to enrolled students for other study at an
appropriate institution in an area relevant to the current programme. It is considered on individual basis
and subject to approval by the Institute.
Generally speaking, holders of Higher Diploma or Associate Degree in computing studies can obtain a maximum
exemption of 16 subjects.
