Tuition Fees
The tuition fees in the 2009-10 academic year are as follows unless otherwise specified:
Associate Degree
  • Approximately *HK$32,400 - HK$42,120 per academic year, payable two equal installments one month before the start of the semesters.

Bachelor's Degree

  • Approximately *HK$42,120 - HK$45,000 per academic year payable by two equal installments one month before the start of the semesters.

Tuition Fee and Expenses in Hong Kong
The following is an estimate on the annual expenses required for studying at HKIT. These estimations do not include expenses for air tickets, local transportation, insurance, clothing, entertainment and textbooks, etc.

Application procedures for Non-local applicants

Type of Students that can enroll in HKIT

  1. Students from Mainland China, Macau, Taiwan, and other counties* can apply for Full Time Associate Degree programmes
  2. Students from Macau, Taiwan and other counties* can apply for Full Time Bachelor Degree programmes.
  3. Students from other counties* can apply for Part Time postgraduate degree programmes (e.g. MPA, DBA)

* (The above entry arrangement does not apply to nationals from Afghanistan, Albania, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea), Nepal and Vietnam)

Steps:

     1.   HKIT programme admission

    By Mail:

    1.

    Fill in the Form together with the following documents

     

    i) Copy of Hong Kong Identity Card
    ii) Copy of supporting document of Qualification
    iii) $150 bank receipt of Application fee

     

     

    2.

    Bank in $150 in Hong Kong Bank account: 534-301767-838, account name Hong Kong Institute of Technology. Please keep the receipt for reference.

     

     

    3.

    Mail the application form, supporting documents and bank receipt to Admissions and Registration Office,Hong Kong Institute of Technology, 2 Breezy Path, Mid-levels West, Hong Kong.

    By Fax:

    1.

    Fill in the Form together with the following documents

     

    i) Copy of Hong Kong Identity Card
    ii) Copy of Supporting Document of Qualification
    iii) $150 Bank receipt of Application fee

     

     

    2.

     2.   Application of study visa with HK Immigration Dept

Send the following information to immigration by HKIT.

  • Application for Entry for Study in Hong Kong (ID 995A)
  • The applicant's recent photograph (affixed on page 2 of the application form ID 995A)
  • Photocopy of the applicant's travel document containing personal particulars, date of issue, date of expiry and/or details of any re-entry visa held (if applicable). For an applicant who is currently staying in the HKSAR, photocopy of his/her travel document page containing the latest arrival stamp/extension of stay label in the HKSAR. Chinese resident of the Mainland who has not been issued with a travel document may submit a photocopy of his/her People's Republic of China resident identity card.
  • Photocopy of the applicant's Hong Kong identity card (if any)  A letter of acceptance from the educational institution
  • One of the applicant's parents should authorise the sponsor or his/her relative/friend in Hong Kong to be the guardian of the applicant. A consent letter duly signed by both the guardian and one of the applicant's parents should be produced. [if the applicant is under the age of 18] 
  • Photocopy of proof of the applicant's accommodation arrangement [if the applicant is under the age of 18]
  • Photocopy of proof of the applicant's financial support, e.g. bank statements, savings account passbooks, tax receipts and salary slips [if the sponsor is the educational institution] 
  • Fee of the Entry Permit: HK$160 cashier’s order or bank-in slip from DBS
    Payee’s name: Hong Kong Institute of Technology
    DBS account no.: 471619213
    Account’s name: Hong Kong Institute of Technology
    ( If you hand in the bank-in slip, please ask teller to put in the English name of the applicant)

If the application is successful, Hong Kong Immigration Dept will issue an “Entry Permit” label (cost HK$160) to HKIT. It officially takes 4 to 6 weeks to process.

     3.   Application of Exit-entry Permit with the relevant  departments in your 
           country of origin (if applicable)

  • Please make the application of Exit-entry Permit with the relevant departments in your country of origin, if necessary.
