Course ObjectivesThe course is designed to help students develop their competence in reading, writing, listening and presentation skills for practical purposes. Students will be allowed to acquire different skills in daily life practices and applications. Students will further be introduced to formal writing skills and communication exercises.
Learning OutcomesOn completion of this unit, students should be able to: 1. Read, write, listen, and speak English language at advanced and formal level. 2. Understand and use more vocabularies in formal English discussions, presentations, conversations and writings. 3. Learn actively through reading of English papers and documents. 4. Communicate confidently in English with English speakers in formal settings. 5. Perform advanced internet search and browsing of electronic materials in English..
Assessment and Completion Requirement1.Module Assessment Method and Weightings: Assignment 30%, Class presentation 40%, Test/Examination 30% module passing mark: 40% 2.Attendance Requirement: not less than 70% [For claiming CEF, claimant should pass the attendance requirements and course assessments of the course(s) as approved by the Labour and Welfare Bureau, with the attendance rate and overall mark of course assessments not less than 70% and 50% respectively or such higher requirements as prescribed for the course (whichever is higher).]
