Programme Feature

This program was created to respond to the large and fast-growing need for technical Cybersecurity professionals in the local market. This course addresses the advances in investigation and cyber security through an understanding of IT security, hacking, forensics, investigation and the future and emerging technologies associated with this rapidly changing field. Students in this program will acquire up-to-date knowledge and skills in Investigation and Cybersecurity, a field of ever-increasing importance to security, the economy, and individual users.

 

Programme Objective

The programme aims to develop students’ knowledge about cyber security and cyber investigation. The programme enables students to integrate the knowledge of cyber security and investigation to produce cyber security plans and solutions to individual and organizations. Moreover, the programme helps to build a sustainable talent pool of IT security officers at paraprofessional level.

The tuition fee is charged on subject basis with HKD $7,000 per subject, total of 16 subjects are to be studied.

Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP)

FASP provides means-tested financial assistance to needy full-time students pursuing locally-accredited, self-financing post-secondary education programmes at the level of associate degree, higher diploma or degree. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to needy students so that no eligible students will be denied access to post-secondary education because of lack of means.

The Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS)

The NLSPS is used to complement the Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP) to provide loan(s) to eligible students to settle tuition fees of locally-accredited, self-financing full-time post-secondary education programmes at the level of associate degree, higher diploma or degree

Self-financing post-secondary scholarship scheme (SPSS)

To promote the development of the self-financing post-secondary sector, the Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) is set up under the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund to offer scholarships and awards to students pursuing full-time locally-accredited self-financing sub-degree or bachelor's degree (including top-up degree) programmes at non-profit-making education institutions.

2+1 Top Up Articulation

HKIT Higher Diploma Graduates can articulate to study one-year top-up degree programmes of BA (Hons) Criminology, Policing and Forensic Investigation by University of West London.

The degree programmes offered by HKIT are recognized by the Hong Kong Government. Students who are eligible for the “Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong” (NMTSS) will be provided with an annual subsidy up to HK$33740 in the 2023/24 academic year.

Year 1 Entry

General Entrance Requirements:

HKDSE applicants
  • Level 2 or above in English Language; and
  • Level 2 or above in Chinese Language; and
  • Level 2 or above in other three subjects(see Remarks below)

 

Remarks:

  • Attained in Applied Learning subjects will be considered as attainment of Level 2
  • Each applicant is allowed to use not more than two Applied Learning subjects in the application.
  • Non-local students with the equivalent qualifications are also considered.

 

HKALE applicants
  • Passed in 1 AL subject, or 2 AS subjects
  • Grade E or above in at least 5 HKCEE subjects included Chinese Language and English Language(Syllabus B)

 

Other qualifications
  • Graduate of Foundation year; or
  • Graduate of recognised certificate / diploma; or
  • Graduate of Diploma Yi Jin course; or
  • Other equivalent qualification; or
  • At 1st January of current academic year , candidate age 21 or above;

  • Holder of recognised diploma/ advanced certificate of same or related discipline; or
  • Other equivalent qualification

Remarks: Qualified applicants for Year 2 Entry may receive maximum 8 modules exemption. Exemption decision will be on a case-by-case basis
