Programme Feature

The Higher Diploma in Heath Care programme (HDHC) aims to to equip students with knowledge, skills and professional demonstration in the roles of health care assistants in various health sectors, involving both private and public healthcare providers, as well as affiliated institutions like, elderly homes, and care homes for disable.

Students will take part in the practicum to acquire the workplace experience and further consolidate their knowledge into real-life practice. The integration of theoretical knowledge, laboratory practice and workplace experience will better prepare students for immediate employment and further studies.

Graduation Requirements

Completion of all required modules including 96hrs practicum package.

Remarks: Qualified applicants may be exempted from up to 8 modules, which will be decided on a case-by-case basis. (e.g. exemption of maximum 8 modules for Higher Diploma; and exemption of maximum 4 modules for Certificate)

 

Advanced standing

Enrolled students who have prior qualifications from other institution may apply credit transfer or course exemption. Each application will be considered individually.

Part Time

The tuition fee is charged on subject basis with HKD $7,000 per subject, total of 16 subjects are to be studied.

Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP)

FASP provides means-tested financial assistance to needy full-time students pursuing locally-accredited, self-financing post-secondary education programmes at the level of associate degree, higher diploma or degree. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to needy students so that no eligible students will be denied access to post-secondary education because of lack of means.

The Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students (NLSPS)

The NLSPS is used to complement the Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP) to provide loan(s) to eligible students to settle tuition fees of locally-accredited, self-financing full-time post-secondary education programmes at the level of associate degree, higher diploma or degree

Self-financing post-secondary scholarship scheme (SPSS)

To promote the development of the self-financing post-secondary sector, the Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) is set up under the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund to offer scholarships and awards to students pursuing full-time locally-accredited self-financing sub-degree or bachelor's degree (including top-up degree) programmes at non-profit-making education institutions.

Prospects

Graduates are eligible to apply for membership of the Hong Kong Health Paraprofessionals Association, and be employed as occupational therapy assistants, physiotherapy assistants or rehabilitation assistants in rehabilitation and healthcare sectors.

 

 

 

 

Year 1 Entry

Minimum Entrance Requirements

Applicants possessing the following admission requirements are eligible to apply for the programme:

  • Level 2 in five HKDSE subjects including English Language, Chinese Language; or
  • Pass in one AL subject or two AS-level subjects in HKALE; and three passes in HKCEE(preferably include at least one science subject) plus Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language; or
  • Completion of Diploma Yi Jin, or
  • Equivalent qualifications.

Remarks:

  • Attained in Applied Learning subjects will be considered as attainment of Level 2.
  • Each applicant is allowed to use not more than two Applied Learning subjects in the application.

  • Holder of recognised diploma/ advanced certificate of same or related discipline; or
  • Other equivalent qualification
