Course Objectives

(I) Contemporary Issues in Hospitality Marketing 1. Undertake appropriate and selective research in the hospitality industry 2. Critically analyse a range of key contemporary issues affecting the Hotel sector 3. Critically evaluate how the global and national hotel brands impact on the tourism sector 4. Critically analyse the development of ethical and sustainable practices in hospitality, in an international context 5. Debate the complex cultural and sociological issues raised by the development of the hospitality industry in new tourism destinations (ii) Srategic Marketing 1. Analyse the micro and macro environment of an organization from the perspective of markets, customers and competitors 2. Critically analyse relevant information in order to inform stategic decision making and develop a strategiv marketing plan 3. Synthesise the new marketing mix and associated innovative practices related to customer management 4. Recognise the challenges of implmenting marketing strategies and the need to manage resources effectively through monitoring, measuring and the adoption of continuous improvement

Assessment and Completion Requirement

(A) Assessment Items and Their Weightings: (I) Contemporary Issues in Hospitality Management: (1) Personal Course Work 100% (II) Strategic Marketing: (1) Report 50% (2) Coursework 50% (B) Completion and CEF Reimbursement Requirements: (1) Passing Mark : Each Assessment obtain 40% or above and overall obtain 50% or above (2) At least 70% of the total contact hours of the course

  1. This course has been included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund.
