Machine Learning (Module from BSc (Hons) Cyber Security)

 

Course Objectives

This module will introduce several fundamental concepts and methods for machine learning. The objective is to familiarize the students with some basic learning algorithms and techniques and their applications, as well as general questions related to analysing and handling large data sets. Several software libraries and data sets publicly available will be used to illustrate the application of these algorithms. The emphasis will be thus on machine learning algorithms and applications, with some broad explanation of the underlying principles.

(A) Assessment Items and Their Weightings: (1) Portfolio (Written Assignment) 100% (B) Completion Requirements: (1) Passing mark: Overall 40% (C) CEF Reimbursement Requirements: (1) Attain a minimum attendance rate of 70% AND (2) at least 50% of overall mark
